“Love You Down” Festival – LRW with SWIMM

On 7th and 8th February, Lauren Ruth Ward took part in “Love You Down” – this Festival (titled as one of SWIMM’s songs) is a celebration of the LA community through music and art. Festival was created by SWIMM band as a way to pay homage to their peers and integrate different artistic communities that may normally exist outside of each other.

The 3rd Annual edition of Love You Down returned to The Echo and Echoplex and it coincided with the 15th anniversary of one of the torchbearers of L.A.’s creative community, Warpaint. Lauren was a special guest of SWIMM and on both nights she performed “Speak Politely” with them from ‘Sentimental Porno’ album.

Both Warpaint and SWIMM performed both nights of the festival, with 14 bands across three stages, as well as eight DJs, live art installations, tarot card readers, and other very East LA type things. For review of the event and some beautiful photos check Buzzbands.La article, click here.

And I have a moving quote from @thebrittwitt (LA based music journalist) about the event: “I am so grateful for our music community and what we achieve when we work >together<. @loveyoudownfest is about community, love and support and that’s exactly what the room felt like last night.”

“I could feel my heart swelling in this moment with Chris & Lauren, there was so much harmony on and off stage. I stood by myself, surrounded by our community, tearing as I remembered this is why I’m here, too. 10 seconds of this feeling is worth the hundreds of hours of agony, the tears, the work.”

Today Lauren returns to opening for LP during her US “Heart To Mouth” Tour. Sadly, The Divinyls Autralian tour has been cancelled due to some undisclosed issues. Press release only stated “unforeseen circumstances”.
